The MHA has approved the gradual commencement of metro services from September 7 and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will issue an SOP in this regard. The MHA has also banned states from imposing local lay-down curfew outside the contingency zone without consulting the Center.



Traders and industrialists have complained about weekend lockdowns like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and arbitrary lockdowns like West Bengal. The Center is in favor of allowing as many economic activities as possible and this is the first set of guidelines where the power to impose restrictions in the public health interest has been stripped from the local administration.
