WhatsApp's group notifications are beneficial for some and boring for others. WhatsApp is going to launch a new feature for you if you are also bothered by WhatsApp's group notifications. WhatsApp will soon include the option of Always Mute Notifications. This feature has been seen in some beta users of WhatsApp, according to a report by WhatsApp news tracking website WABeteinfo.

Currently group notifications can be muted for 1 year
According to the report, the 2.20.197.3 beta version of Android includes the Mute Always option. However, only some beta users will be able to use it. Also a new feature will be added in WhatsApp. It allows users to delete messages from chat after 7 days.

The selected message will be deleted from the chat after the time specified by the user. Currently, however, this feature will only be launched for the group. Some beta users can use this feature by going to Group Info and clicking on Disappeared and turning on the timer.

How to Change WhatsApp notification settings

Open WhatsApp > tap More options > Settings > Notifications.

You can change notifications for messages, groups, and calls by choosing:

Whether to show conversation tones for incoming and outgoing messages on or off.
Notification tone or ringtone.
Vibration duration.
Whether to point out popup notifications on Android 9 and older. this enables notifications to point out within the middle of your screen.
Notification light color for supported phones.
Whether to use high priority notifications on Android 5 and newer. This shows previews of notifications at the highest of your screen and may be wont to disable peeking notifications.

To reset your notifications settings, tap Settings > Notifications > tap More options > Reset notification settings > RESET.

How to Customize notifications

You can customize notifications by choosing different options for tone, vibration, popup, and light:
  • Open a private or group chat.
  • Tap the name of the individual or group chat.
  • Tap Custom notifications > check Use custom notifications.
  • Mute notifications
  • Open a private or group chat.
  • Tap the name of the individual or group chat.
  • Tap Mute notification.
  • Select the length of your time you’d wish to mute notifications and tap OK.
